Welcome to Darnall & Richmond Surgeries

Important Information - 19th July 2021

Whilst Governmental guidance changes on Monday, 19 July in respect to the wearing of masks we will continue to ask all patients that they continue to wear a mask when attending the Practice.

As a Health Care Provider, we have worked tirelessly over the past fifteen months to create a safe environment within which staff can work and patients are safe to attend. Whilst the number of positive cases continues to rise we believe it is appropriate to continue with our current arrangements.

So the door will remain open, you will be asked COVID related questions, asked to wear a mask and you will be socially distanced in the waiting room.

If you are exempt from wearing a mask, or you choose not to, you will be asked to wait outside until the Clinician is ready to see you.

We are doing telephone triage calls in the morning and if you need seeing face-to face the Clinician will book you in, we have a Duty Doctor who is on call mornings and afternoons to deal with any emergencies.

Please respect the job the Reception staff are doing, they are working to local and national protocols in order to keep the Practice operating as efficiently as possible to make sure we can deal with your issues and queries as quickly as possible.

We hope you understand the reason for us continuing to work in this manner; the situation will be reviewed regularly and changes made when necessary.

Our key focus is keeping patients, staff and the community as safe as possible.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Coronavirus Vaccinations

You may have seen various Covid vaccinations being announced on the news recently, including the Pfizer vaccine that has been approved today 02/12/2020.

We do not have any vaccines yet so please don’t ring asking for this vaccination.

Currently, Care Home residents and their staff will be vaccinated first, which I hope will happen before Christmas.

GP Practices are being asked to work together to have mass vaccination sites rather than each Surgery working separately – this is due to the very low temperature of the Pfizer vaccination has to be kept at which reduces the number of sites it can be delivered to.

It is likely that after the Care Homes are vaccinated, we will vaccinate by age group starting with 80+ age range, then the 75+ age range, then working downwards. Once I get a more information I will update this web page. We will contact patients when we are ready to take Covid vaccination bookings so there is no need to contact the practice at this stage please

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, how you contact us will be different at the moment. This is to limit face-to-face contact whenever possible and help stop the spread of coronavirus.

Your GP practice is open and if you need to see your GP, please ring us on 0114 244 9525 or 0114 239 5243.  Click here for our opening hours

You can also call NHS 111. Please do not come to the surgery unless you have an appointment.

If you are waiting for a check-up, please be assured we will be in touch

Appointments are being delivered face-to-face, online and over the telephone.

If you are asked to come into the surgery for a face-to-face appointment, please remember to wear a face covering.

Measures are in place to keep you safe from infection during your visit to the surgery.

You can still contact your GP, 111 online or call 111 for help. If you are told to go to hospital, you must go.
We’ll give you the care you need. www.nhs.uk

Electronic Isolation Note

People unable to work for more than seven days because of coronavirus (COVID-19) can obtain an isolation note through a new online service.

Isolation notes will provide employees with evidence for their employers that they have been advised to self-isolate due to coronavirus, either because they have symptoms or they live with someone who has symptoms, and so cannot work.

The notes can be accessed through the NHS 111 online.

After answering a few questions, an isolation note will be emailed to the user. This will relieve the pressure on practices having to issue fit notes, if patients contact you asking for a fit note, direct them to https://111.nhs.uk/isolation-note.
